Windows 11 Migration - Are you Ready?
What you Need to Know!
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 support will end on October 14th. That means businesses and users alike need to have a game plan for the transition to Windows 11. If you haven't started planning your move, it's not too late. Here's how to get started -
Confirm your System Compatibility
Windows has stricter hardware requirements than Windows 10. If you are planning on upgrading existing machines, be sure to check the compatibility using the Microsoft PC Health Check app
Inventory and Audit Applications
As Windows 11 has been around for a few years, most applications have been updated to work seamlessly with Windows 11. However, some older software may not function as expected in Windows 11. Verify any business-critical software with vendors, make sure older peripherals like printers, scanners and the like have drivers for Windows 11, and any custom applications need to be tested in a Windows 11 environment
Plan your Rollout
If you have a multiple PCs to upgrade, consider rolling out the update in phases, starting with a small number of devices (called a pilot group) to test compatibility. Use any information or lessons learned from the pilot group to prepare the rest of your team.
Train Users on any Changes
For most users, changes to the Start Menu, Taskbar, and Settings may be unfamiliar. Any changes in other application functionality should also be reviewed and trained to ensure a smooth transition.
Back Up!!
Any migration of data carries risk. Make sure you are backing up before upgrading!
